REVERSE OSMOSIS APPLICATIONS

Reverse osmosis technology has been successfully used in a wide variety of water and chemical solution purification processes. Reverse osmosis can be used in nearly any application that requires the removal, or concentration, of inorganic salts, larger organic molecules, colloids, some colors and dyes and fine particulate matter. HydroMax, Inc. builds industrial reverse osmosis systems for applications requiring from 150 to over 100,000 gallons per day of high quality water.

The following are number of industries and associated applications well suited for using reverse osmosis water purification technology:

REVERSE OSMOSIS TECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS

    • Metal Finishing — used in plating solutions manufacture, for rinsing of finished parts to prevent spotting and for plating solution recovery from rinse water
    • Laboratory — used for purification of water used in reagent manufacturing and for rinsing glassware and automatic sample analyzer test chambers in hospitals and research
    • Steam Boilers — used to reduce TDS of boiler feed water, thus protecting the boilers from mineral scale deposits and reducing blow-down requirements
    • Pharmaceutical — used to purify water used in the production of injectable and other drug related products and for rinsing production equipment
    • Electronics — used to remove ionic contaminants from waters used to rinse printed circuit boards and semi-conductor chips
    • Potable Water — used to provide a source of safe, purified water for drinking and other uses from brackish or even seawater
    • Printing — used to produce low TDS water for use in automatic printing press operations
    • Cooling Towers — used to recycle purified water from high TDS blow-down wastewater or reduce feed water TDS
    • Chemical — used to eliminate ionic contaminants which can alter the chemistry or appearance of many chemical products including biotechnology products, personal care products such as shampoos and detergents
    • Beverages — produces water of exceptionally consistent quality for use in beverage manufacture
    • Ice Manufacture — used to produce water which increases the clarity and density of ice and increases the freeze temperature for more cost effective potable, process and skating rink ice production
    • Critical Cooling — used to produce water used to cool devices such as high power lasers and computers and for humidity generating systems without causing deposit problems
    • Car Wash Rinse — used to eliminate salts from the final rinse water which would cause spotting
    • Wastewater Treatment — used to recover, or treat prior to discharge, wastewater containing salts, heavy metals, and color from dyes and inks
    • Edible Products — used to concentrate fruit juices, maple syrup and sugar cane syrup
    • Humidification — used to eliminate mineral deposition in humidification trays and high pressure nozzles
